About Me
Hello, my name is Simone Marzeddu and I am a Game Designer. This page summarises my story, my career path and, above all, my relationship with the subject I study and work on.
My Passion
Although I didn't pick up on the signs since the start, when I think about it, Game Design has always been not only my greatest passion, but a real lens through which I have always filtered the world around me. Ever since I was a child, my passion and goal was to create ludic experiences for my two younger siblings. Albeit in a childish and disinterested way, I used to make up the rules of our games and tell them about the worlds we imagined. It was my first real encounter with the subject I now love to study.
When I was growing up, I came across video games and it was love at first sight. I was discovering a unique medium where the spectator becomes the real protagonist, where the player's emotions and thoughts come from real experiences that they live in these products. "Medievil" was the first video game I discovered, played on my mother's Playstation 1, and perhaps it was then that my passion began to take shape, becoming more and more defined.
Towards the end of high school, I realised that my passion for creating ludic experiences and my love for the medium of video games could also become my profession, but unfortunately in Italy, and even more so in Sardinia, where I come from, this sector is undervalued and underdeveloped. I forced myself to think of video games as a hobby, and although there is nothing wrong with that, it was too restrictive. However, I began to create my first projects with Construct 2, writing my stories, drawing my characters and telling my friends (perhaps too obsessively) about the worlds I was creating.

My Educational Journey
After rejecting a direct path to a career in the games industry, I enrolled at the University of Pisa to study Computer Science. I have always been fascinated by technology, Computer Science and AI, and I still admire the practical and academic aspects of these scientific disciplines. However, among the many possibilities that this field of study could offer me, my interest and passion continued to be directed towards video games, and with the new knowledge of programming languages acquired along the way, I began to study game engines on my own, working on some small experiments.
After becoming familiar with Unity 3D, I discovered the existence of the Digital Bros Game Academy, the institution where I decided to begin my educational journey in Game Design. This experience was fundamental to develop an active critical sense of the industry and to concretise the theoretical knowledge of the subject that I had acquired up to that point. The opportunity to participate in group projects and to meet other colleagues who were entering this unexplored field was invaluable to me.
My Goals
Today, after graduating from the Academy and the University, I am sure that I have taken a step in the right direction and I hope to continue learning and deepening the subject of Game Design. My professional goal is to be able to become part of a studio that shares my values and my desire to evolve, putting the theory I have studied into practice by designing rules, stories and experiences for players.
