ABOUT ME

About Me

Hello, my name is Simone Marzeddu and I am a Game Designer with a background in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. This page tells the story of how I discovered game design, how I learned to pursue it with intention, and what continues to motivate me in this field.

My Passion

When I look back, I realise that game design has always been present in the way I approached the world, even before I could give it a name. As a child, I often created small games for my younger siblings, inventing rules on the spot and describing the imaginary worlds we played in. Those early moments were my first attempts at shaping experiences for others.

My passion grew when I encountered video games. MediEvil on the PlayStation 1 was the first title that left a strong mark on me. It showed me how a game can transform the player into an active participant and how emotions can arise from choices, actions, and discovery. From that moment, creating experiences felt like something natural and essential.

Towards the end of high school, I began experimenting on my own. I used Construct 2 to make small projects, wrote stories, drew characters, and shared ideas with friends. At the time I still believed that working in games was unrealistic, especially growing up in Sardinia, where the industry is limited. Despite this belief, my interest kept growing.

Some of my original characters, part of a story (a completely personal project) I have been writing since high school, drawn by me a few years later.

My Educational Journey

After high school I decided to study Computer Science at the University of Pisa, where I later specialised in Artificial Intelligence. I have always been curious about how technology works and how intelligent systems can learn and improve. These studies strengthened my technical foundation and helped me understand interactive systems from a deeper perspective.

While completing my degree, I continued learning about game development on my own. I practiced with Unity and Unreal and built several small prototypes. Later, I discovered the Digital Bros Game Academy, which marked a turning point. Working in multidisciplinary teams, producing documentation, and following real production processes gave structure to the knowledge I had collected over the years. It was the moment when I understood that game design was not only my passion but also the direction I wanted to pursue professionally.

My Goals

Now that I have completed my academic studies and my training in game design, I feel aligned with the path I chose. My goal is to join a studio where I can contribute and continue to grow. I want to design systems, rules, and experiences that speak to players in a clear and meaningful way.

I see game design as a meeting point between creativity, technology, psychology, and empathy. My background in AI helps me think in terms of logic and structure, while my passion for storytelling keeps my attention on the people who will play the final product.

I continue to study, experiment, and refine my approach because designing games is not simply something I do. It is the way I explore ideas and connect them to real experiences.
